100 Days to a Wiser You

I will be challenging you this week to put the main idea of the proverbs you read into your own words. I’m praying that you are feasting on the banquet of godly wisdom that King Solomon has placed before us. Learn it, live it and share it!

-          Pastor Lincoln

What the Lord Hates

Prayer: Lord, help me to hate the things that you hate and love the things that you love. Amen

Read Proverbs 6

Observations to Make:

Reread vv.12-19 circling all the body parts referenced. Here is one of several passages in the Proverbs that demand that our whole being is committed to godly wisdom.

The sin of stirring up dissension among brothers is condemned repeatedly in the Proverbs. Keep an eye out for more proverbs that do just that in this week’s reading.

Live it!

Think about this proverb while asking yourself the question, “Are there any areas where I am stirring up dissension in my life?” I mean really think about it, asking the Lord to reveal areas where you need to repent and help restore peace as far as it is possible with you.

Share it!

Take the list of seven things the Lord hates and rewrite it to list seven things the Lord loves. Post this list on your fridge. Example: The Lord loves humble eyes, a truth telling tongue, etc.

August 7, Proverbs 7

Look up Romans 12.1 and note here the alternative to offering your body up to the adulteress.

Live it!

The father of the Proverbs warns his son of the ruin that can come to the person who allows himself or herself to be seduced. What happens to each animal that succumbs to their instincts, their passions? What areas of your life are you motivated by passion rather than acting on wisdom.

If you are struggling with sexual temptation, find someone, a believer of the same gender, to confide in so he or she can support you. Do it today! Conversely ask a close friend if he or she needs support in this area. It’s what Christian friends do for each other!

Wisdom’s invitation is to leave our simple, foolish ways and live. Are there simple ways you are still walking in? What would those be? Ask the Lord to enable you to walk in understanding.

Share it!

Who in your life do you need to invite to walk in the way of understanding? Is there a young person you are mentoring? If you are the Apostle Paul, who is the Timothy in your life that you are investing yourself in? Pray for that person now and ask the Lord where you need to challenge that person to leave their simple ways.
