Incredible! This week begins our third reading through the Book of Proverbs. What a feast God has set before us in this book. I pray that you are growing wiser each and thatevery day and that you are enjoying wisdom’s rewards.

July 30, Proverbs 30

Just Enough

Prayer: Lord, help me to find contentment in all the resources you have made available to me. - In Jesus’ name. Amen

Observations to Make:

Name the two things that Agur asks for in verses .7-9.

Learn it! Write out Proverbs 30.8 below.

Find the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 and write the reference Pr 30.8 next to where Jesus prays “give us this day our daily bread.”

Live it!

Consider the dangers of being too rich or too poor. How could riches lead you to disown the Lord? Have they done that already? How could poverty cause you to dishonor the name of the Lord? Has that occurred in your life? What action steps could be taken to avoid either extreme?

July 31, Proverbs 31

The Industrious Woman

Prayer: Lord, make my dawn to dusk, my entire day count for you. Help me to make life better for those around me, so when I go to sleep at night I can say I have provided for others. - In Jesus Name. Amen

In the section before the account of the Proverbs Woman, note three practices Solomon’s mother wanted him to follow as ruler over the people.

Live it!

There is nothing lazy about this woman in the 31^st chapter of Proverbs. She is on top of things, or at least she is aware of all that is transpiring in her house. Talk to the Lord about the schedule you keep. Are there times of idleness that need to be eliminated from your daily life?

Share your schedule with someone else and ask them the question, Do you see things here that I am doing with my time that could be spent in better ways. Pray together that the Lord will enable you to watch over the affairs of your household.

August 1, Proverbs 1

Complacency

Prayer: Lord, thank you for helping to me read twice through the Book of Proverbs. Bless this third reading and make it more meaningful than ever before. - In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What are the two sins condemned in this verse?

Live it!

Complacency - this proverb says it is deadly. How would you define complacency? Look the word up in the dictionary. What are ways in which you have been complacent as a follower of Christ? Confess these areas of complacency to the Lord and take one move away from complacency in a particular area of your life.

Find a child to explain the idea of complacency to. Give them for our five examples of complacency and the negative consequences of complacency.

This verse indicates that godly wisdom will enable people to do what is right and enjoy God’s blessings. For the Hebrew people there was no greater blessing than the land God had given to them to enjoy. List three blessings the Lord has given you this week to enjoy.

Pray for our country, that we will continue to enjoy the blessing of this land as we repent of our wickedness and live upright and blameless. Consider the consequences of the Lord’s judgment if we do not.

August 3, Proverbs 3

In All of Your Ways

We can’t leave the book of Proverbs without memorizing these two verses. It is a call to absolute obedience and surrender to the Lord in every area of your life. Write these verses out over and over again until you can do it from memory. They are must know verses of the Bible.

August 4, Proverbs 4

Sunrise on the Path of Righteousness

Prayer: Lord, I know there are two paths set out before me, the path of wickedness and righteousness. I choose the latter. Keep my feet on the path of righteousness this day. – In Jesus Name, Amen.

August 5, Proverbs 5

Captivated

Here is another verse in the Bible that affirms that all of our ways are in the Lord’s view. We just cannot conceal anything from the Lord. God see all. Is this a thought that is with you continually through the day? How could you keep this truth at the forefront of your thoughts today?
