Your Quiet Time With God
January 4th, 2007
Questions to Ask, Web-sites to Visit
I thank God for the overwhelmingly positive response to Sunday’s message about our need for a daily quiet time with the Lord. Many of you have expressed your commitment to meet daily with the Lord in 2007.
You have also asked for the questions that I and others use in our study of a Bible passage. These questions will help you hear God speak to you through His Word. Here are a list of those questions:
What does this text tell me about the nature of God?
Is there a warning to head?
Is there an error to avoid?
Is there a sin to confess?
Is there a change I need to make?
Is there a command to obey?
Is there a promise to trust?
Is there an example to follow?
Is there a prayer to pray?
Is there a truth to believe?
Is there something to thank God for?
I also want to ask at the end of my study if there is an action step I can write out, that is personal (for me), practical (with God’s help I can do it) and it’s provable (there is a deadline).
Perhaps you can combine some of these questions. I hope they serve as a useful tool.
If you are looking for a Bible reading plan that points you to specific Scriptures to read on each particular day, check out any of these web sites. One site even offers a free program you can download to design your own reading plan.
